Not that anyone really cares at this point, but Vince and I finally finished another song: Mr. Pocky Snack Inventor. It's not much, but at least it's a start towards a batch of new songs.

Tabun...

September 26, 2004

I received an email the other day from a Troy Doerner telling me that he "started working on a series of anime music videos to go along with them." The first video is based on the song Mr. Anime Fanservice Inventor. I'd host it here, but it would probably kill my meager bandwidth. Thanks for the AMV, Troy!

I'm curious to see how the other ones turn out. I suppose I should start writing more songs now so when Vince has some free time we can record a couple in a row. I'll try to shoot for 3-4 more. I just hope I can think of something good...

For those of you who didn't already notice, I added a new forum section on the left - I have a mySQL database as part of my package deal, and I thought I'd put it to use. I'm hoping to get a post or two a month (not including mine, of course). I'm pretty new to this forum thing, so I'll probably be constantly tweaking it. If I bork anything or if you have any suggestions/comments/questions about the forum, tell me in the new forum (hint, hint) or contact me directly.

Be gentle...

I was sorting through some of the pictures from Anime Expo and I thought I should post evidence that people came to our room to play some doujin fighters.

Well, we're back from Anime Expo, and I think the meeting of the otaku went rather well. I'd like to thank the following people who bothered to show up: Jabel (VManofMana), Koji (Evospace), Johnathan (Linalys), Banquo, Thomas, Dillan, Robert, Jake, Caleb, Leonard, Derrick, Howard, John, and Bill (if I forgot anyone or their details let me know).

Linalys and VManofMana were definitely the best at Melty Blood Re•ACT (I didn't get to see Evospace play); I should've practiced more so I could've been better competition for those two. I was able to show off a bit at Queen of Heart '99 and Party's Breaker so I didn't feel too bad about that. We didn't have many hardcore players, but I believe the main goal of showing these games to new people was a success. I played VManofMana a bit in Eternal Fighter Zero: Bad Moon Edition, and even though he was kicking my butt up and down the place, I still had fun. I'd love to do this again next year...

My friends took a few pictures of the con and the people who came over, so I'll post those as soon as I get a hold of them. I also have a bit of ranting to do, so if you read my personal site, keep an eye out for that.

As a final note, I walked around the con with a sign on my backpack that said "Real Otaku Heroes" to see if anyone knew about the site, but, judging from the lack of reaction, apparently no one did. ;_; Kusu, kusu... I think a couple people saw the sign and hadn't seen the site before, so they probably thought that I was being pretentious or didn't realize the implications of the word "otaku". Taken out of context, I could see how there could be a misunderstanding, but it would take too much effort to explain. It's much easier to listen to the songs...

I just noticed that two of the links on the Songs page didn't work. Why doesn't anyone ever tell me about stuff like this?

Oh well, they're working now...

June 22, 2004

Sorry to disappoint everyone, but we're still alive.

Feel the Beatdown

We might even make a new song before we head off to Expo.

Seriously.

May 11, 2004

We plan on attending Anime Expo 2004 with some friends, and one of the ways we plan on having fun is to engage in some good old fashioned beating via Queen of Heart '99, Party's Breaker, and Melty Blood. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out the Games section of Kitchen Discotheque for details. We'll post some flyers about when and where at the con, so keep your eyes open and practice before coming so you don't lose too horribly. ^_^

I know a couple of you out there are waiting for the newest song, but various things in life conspired to prevent us from working on it. It's mostly my fault (The Spatula), so if you want someone to blame, blame me.

So this isn't a complete waste of your time, Sklathill is attending Sakura Con in Washington this weekend, so if you're headed out that way, or if you know someone who is going, look for the guy on the keyboard playing anime tunes and say how much you love Real Otaku Heroes; if you have something bad to say, don't blame him, you know where to email me.

Vince, master of music, was out for a bit working on his website, doing whatever he does over there. ^_^

I'm still pondering what facet of fandom we should salute this time. Since we don't release songs that often, I was wondering if people are already tired of our stuff. It's hard trying to think up new ideas. Maybe people would like to submit stuff for me to post their "Real Life" experinces being or meeting otaku in the Live Action section. I was going to post some stuff I found on the internet, but I didn't want to post any pics without permission.

Here's a screenshot of the cool new fighting game based on Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night:

Melty Fate

The credit for this screencap goes to Overused Pseudonym from the Sarumaru Forums.

Most of the topics there are about doujin games (not a lot right now, but the forum is pretty new); take a look over there if that's your thing.

One of the newest topics is about combos people made in Melty Blood, so I thought I'd post a replay that I made (for Version 1.100). Save it in the "replay" folder and then select Replay from the Practice Menu in Training Mode.

Others are vacationing, but we're still hard at work for you! Not that anyone actually cares... Oh well, here you go:

Mr. Anime Fanservice Inventor.

March 16, 2004

No new song yet (yeah, we're slackers), but I thought I'd let people know that the Melty Blood English REL 1.100E.001 patch that Revolve Translations is working on is out. Lend these guys a hand if you can!

For those who don't know, Melty Blood is a doujin (fan-made) fighting game (made by the same people who made The Queen of Heart '99 and Party's Breaker) that uses the characters from the doujin visual novel, Shingetsutan Tsukihime, which was later made into an anime that was released last year by Geneon.

Submitted for your approval: Mr. Shoujo Anime and Manga Fan.

March 07, 2004

I apologize for no new song yet, but I came across an interesting website called Otaku Unite from Anime Fringe. I'm surprised that I didn't hear of this before.

I guess I'm not a Real Otaku Hero afterall...

February 29, 2004

The leap year may be bad for us, but it's good for you since we were able to crank out another song - Mr. Self Insert Fanfiction Writer.

Okay, maybe that isn't so good...

February 21, 2004

After a bit of a delay, we finally managed to do another Pocari Sweat ad, Mr. Harem Anime Inventor. I'm sure that the 6 people who visit this site will enjoy it. ^_^

February 14, 2004

In Japan, Valentine's Day is typically celebrated by having girls give chocolate to the guys they like. Of course, this can be taken to another level, and the Prince Yuki Fan Club exhibits a higher form of love.

For those of you looking for another installment of the Pocari Sweat ads, we're sorry for the delay, but Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles is very powerful. Also, we are thinking of doing some other things besides the ads, since people will eventually get tired of those. What will it be? I wonder...

February 8, 2004

Well, we have a new song up. Hopefully, people will like it better than the last one...

February 6, 2004

Brandon from insert credit was kind enough to link to my personal homepage, Kitchen Discotheque because of our newest song, Mr. Pirated Anime Goods Seller. ^_^ Most people probably wouldn't be interested in my personal news, but some may be interested in the Ads in Anime and Queen of Heart '99 FAQ.

But enough about my personal stuff - as for this site, I added to the anime section, featuring an Otaku in Anime, Commander Volcott.

February 1, 2004

The site is finally up, but it is a bit sparse at this time (my kung-fu is weak). The only sections that really have anything are the Songs and the About section. As you can see, I have some things planned for the other sections so keep your eye on this news page. Finally, I plan to experiment a bit with this site a bit, so the look may change dramatically, so watch out!
